What to say for миграционный учёт (migration registration)

You land. Then someone has to tell the interior ministry where you sleep. Russian migration registration (миграционный учёт) is generally within seven working days of arrival at that address. The host usually files — the hotel, the landlord, or the person whose flat you are in. You still need the lines if you are standing next to them, or if a window clerk talks to you instead of them.

The Russian town-hall phrase page has the short lines for a municipal queue. This is the registration. The duty sits in Federal Law 109-FZ and Government Decree No. 9: generally seven working days from arrival at that address. Hotels and similar hosts often file the next working day. Gosuslugi lists the host filing. Do not treat a hostel stamp as optional because a friend said “nobody checks.”

This is not legal advice and it is not a workaround. If the host will not file, that is their problem and yours. Get the notification tear-off or a screenshot from Gosuslugi before you leave the building.

What to bring

Passport, migration card, the host’s identity documents, and the lease or a written confirmation that you stay there. The host signs. You do not invent a landlord.

• Хозяин квартиры подаёт уведомление. — The apartment host is filing the notice.
• Нужна запись заранее? — Do I need an appointment in advance?
• Я принёс договор и миграционную карту. — I brought the contract and the migration card.

Hotels often do this at check-in. A private flat often means МФЦ, the local interior-ministry window, or Gosuslugi if the host has an account.

At the window

Здравствуйте. Let the host speak first if they are the applicant. Keep your lines for when the clerk turns to you.

• Какие документы нужны? — What documents are needed?
• Я не понимаю этот бланк. — I do not understand this form.
• Не могли бы вы говорить помедленнее? — Could you speak a little more slowly?
• Можно копию уведомления? — May I have a copy of the notice?

Do not argue the seven-day clock at the glass. Ask what is still missing and go get it.

If something is missing

• Какого документа не хватает? — Which document is missing?
• Можно принести копию сегодня вечером? — Can I bring a copy this evening?
• Я пришёл забрать справку. — I came to collect the certificate.

The Russian that matters is short: I need migration registration, the host is filing, here is the card, please go slower. Practise it out loud. Window speed is not textbook speed.
