What to say for ikamet and a Turkish address change

You need two things that look like one. A residence permit (ikamet) is applied for on e-ikamet at Göç İdaresi. A change of registered address is a different clock: twenty business days to tell nüfus or the provincial migration directorate. Mixing them up is how people miss a deadline they thought they had already handled.

The Turkish town-hall phrase page has the short lines for the queue. This is the appointment. Address-service rules are on the NVI FAQ for address services. The permit itself is not a nüfus stamp. Start on e-ikamet, print the appointment page, and bring the folder the site lists for your permit type.

Before e-ikamet

Create the application, pay the fee the site names, and book the Göç İdaresi slot. Write the application number on paper. A screenshot on a dying phone is not a plan.

  • İkamet başvurusu yapmak istiyorum. — I want to apply for a residence permit.
  • Adres değişikliği bildirimi yapmam gerekiyor. — I need to report an address change.
  • Randevu almam gerekiyor mu? — Do I need to book an appointment?
  • Sözleşmeyi getirdim. — I brought the contract.

If you already have a permit and only the flat changed, that is the twenty-business-day address notice — nüfus or il göç idaresi, as NVI states. Do not restart a full ikamet file for a street change unless they tell you to.

At Göç İdaresi or nüfus

Merhaba. Application number first. They will ask for the lease, the biometrics, and whether the address on the form matches the building you sleep in.

  • Hangi belgeler gerekli? — Which documents are required?
  • Bu formu anlamıyorum. — I do not understand this form.
  • Biraz daha yavaş konuşabilir misiniz? — Could you speak a little more slowly?
  • Adres kaydı ne zaman işlenir? — When is the address record processed?

Do not start with the story of the flight. They have a queue.

If they send you away

  • Hangi belge eksik? — Which document is missing?
  • Öğleden sonra kopyayla gelebilir miyim? — Can I come back this afternoon with a copy?
  • Belgeyi teslim almaya geldim. — I am here to collect the document.

An ikamet morning is a number and a wait. The Turkish that matters is: I am here for the residence permit or the address notice, here is the contract, please go slower.
