Learn Dutch
Learn Dutch built for you
Lumi Language is Dutch for a job in Amsterdam, a month in Rotterdam, or Sunday dinner with a partner's parents — not a generic A1 course. You name the gemeente desk and the people you will talk to, and the first unit is inschrijving and lunch chat, not colours and farm animals.
Not “Dutch, beginner” — “starting a job in Amsterdam — I need the gemeente registration and lunch chat at work”.
Gemeente and lunch-chat phrases before colours and farm animals.
First-month Dutch phrases
- Housing — Viewing a flat, asking what is included, agreeing a date.
- Town hall — Registering, asking where to queue, the document they will ask for.
- Doctor — Booking, saying where it hurts, understanding the next step.
- Neighbours — The first hello in the stairwell, and the first small ask.
Longer: what to say at a Dutch gemeente · what to say at an Amsterdam flat viewing.
Questions
Netherlands or Belgium — does it matter?
Say which. Amsterdam and Antwerp should not produce the same course. The default path is Netherlands Dutch; a Flanders goal shifts the generated phrases.
Do I need to know de and het before I start?
No. You meet them on phrases you need (het BSN, de borg). When the article is the point of a card, ask why in the exercise.
Will this help with the gemeente registration?
If you put that in the goal, yes — that is a specific desk with a small, useful vocabulary, which is exactly what the generator is for.
Can I skip the goal and just learn Dutch?
Yes. There are 32 hand-written topics. The generator is for when you have a date and a reason.
